Hello, February!
This is the hardest time of year for me (I much prefer warmer weather), and sketching and painting have been such a welcome respite from the cold. When I last wrote I’d been working on a book cover for kids. The assignment: what’s in JK Rowling’s bag?
The cover is now finished! I’d already do so many things differently, but that’s the fun and useful thing about learning, isn’t it?
Here’s where the cover ended up:
I wanted to keep the design and colors simple for a child audience and to try things that I’m not comfortable with like lettering and drawing a person.
The next mini assignment starts this week and it’s all about tea! I love tea, I love mugs, and I love beautiful teapots. I’ve started with some very basic sketches so far, like this one drawn with colored pencils. I can’t wait to start painting!
Have a wonderful week, friends!
